BSB40212 – Certificate IV in Business

Course Duration:

Delivery will occur over 20 week period with 20 hours contact time per week. To allow for school holidays and breaks this will occur over a period of 26 weeks.

  • Student contact hours = 20 hrs per week x 20 weeks = 400 hours
  • Breaks/public holidays = 6 weeks
Qualification Description:

This qualification is suited to those working as administrators and project officers. In this role, individuals use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

Entry Requirements of the College:
  1. Year 12 certificate (Or its Equivalent for Overseas students)
  2. Students must be of 18 years of age to apply.
  3. An IELTS level of 5.5 is required for International students entering into this program. (To find out about IELTS, visit (Only for Overseas Students)
  4. Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Test:

NMC will review all enrolment applications to ensure entry requirements are being met prior to acceptance into a course. As part of the enrolment process students are required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) test to ensure that the student has the ability to complete the course. This test will occur prior to course commencement and will be assessed by a trainer/Assessor or an authorised NMC Delegate.

Pathways for Students:

Students obtaining a competency for all units in this course will be awarded the full qualification BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business. Students not obtaining a competent result for all units in this course will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Students completing BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business may enter into workplace or continue current roles including administrators and project officers.

Credit Transfer may be gained on completion of this qualification for further study in related qualifications.

Delivery Arrangements

This program is to be delivered in a classroom based environment.

As part of the classroom based training NMC will provide access to appropriate simulated workplace environments for the practical component of the course.

All theory based delivery will occur within the designated classrooms of the College through structured training sessions from a qualified Trainer / Assessor. At these training sessions a qualified trainer will provide the required skills and knowledge as per the unit content and will ensure the learning is imparted.

As part of this course students will also be required to undertake practical activities related to the course content. These practical activities will be undertaken in a simulated workplace environment within the classroom based delivery.

The course also involves students completing some reading and written work outside the scheduled classroom delivery time.

All classroom based delivery will occur in suitable environments and follow all WHS/OHS guidelines and relevant legislations.

The delivery of units is sequenced to facilitate students developing an understanding of the skills and knowledge required to apply solutions to an anticipated range of office situations, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. A sample is shown below including the allocated hours for face to face and self-paced/home study.
